Tyranny of the Gene was phenomenal! My first 5🌟 of 24! https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/622502/tyranny-of-the-gene-by-james-tabery/ Looks at how genetic research has eclipsed environmental Ie: billions sunk into failed attempts to find diabetes and asthma genes, nothing addressing bad food or pollution

He guest lectured a class I took last year. It was kinda funny, he got a lot of pushback. Lots of genetic counseling/PhD students in the class were a little upset by his arguments & felt that altho precision med has so far failed to live up to the hype, it might actually be on the cusp of realizing its full potential.

They have been saying that for 20yr so that pushback doesn’t do much for me lol For whatever reason we have decided to make this an ‘either/or’ not a ‘both’. Stupid. To me it seems obvious the pendulum has swung too far towards “precision med” and we are behind on the rest of it
