I actually agree with #1 lol I don't think he's saying artists won't be internationally famous. But if I walk into the grocery store and ask 10 random people, 7+ are going to at least know who Taylor Swift is, even if they aren't fans. Music is becoming too fragmented for people to reach that level. Deep, not wide.

i disagree. taylor swift is continuing to blow up in this time where music is already becoming fragmented. Sure most people knew her before, but if they didn’t, they know her now. And i think there will generally always be people like that.

I think most people knowing her before is a huge factor though. She's 17 years & 12 Grammys into her career. If you search the top artists on Spotify right now, how many of them check both these boxes: - your mom would recognize their name - they began their career less than 10 years ago (during the streaming era)
