Agree with @shazow.eth here. I will assume that we can both agree that ACME shareholders co-own ACME. How then do eth holders (and especially stakers), not co-ownethereum?

if you bought ALL the ethereum yes, you would own it or if you bought 51% you would own it otherwise, this is nomenclature gymnastics avoiding the crux of the idea that when you own something you control it

I'm not calling it ownership, I'm calling it co-ownership. If a sufficient number of people (each of whom owns less than a controlling stake), coordinate then they can control it. We call this collusion when we don't like what they want to do, and ETH protoocol design has been obsessing over it for years.
