at a previous company, we built dynamic apis capable of processing 20,000+ payroll transactions per hour. but leadership halted the project—too big of a jump. the payroll system was caught between old and new architectures (mongodb and isam—wild mix), and leadership prioritized relatability over reinvention. the mindset? don’t upgrade what works.

but we proved a niche use case, and it worked. last year, they finally implemented it for the main batch of transactions. happy to see it happen.
