The Bystander Effect.
If you don’t know about this effect, it might save your life learning about it. The Bystander Effect is a diffusion of responsibility of bystanders. When someone is standing on the side of a robbery or a fight, they will not interfere the more people are around, expecting them to help.
When you are in a fight, are being robbed, or worse, do not expect others to help you. They will want to avoid it. Instead, look one person in the eye, ask for their help specifically and direct it all at them. If you do not see anyone, describe a building, a car, or whatever else is close by where you feel someone is present. That removes the feeling of anyone else being able to help as you asked it specifically of them. 1 reply
