I had always thought otherwise…From, the theory of gravity to the germ theory of disease, thought science actually proved ‘em and not just supporting what was previously established. What proves theories then? (Am I in for some critical exposé)

nothing really proves theories, but the scientific method helps us make them robust/useful by gathering evidence and repeating experiments eg you won’t really be able to find a theory that refutes gravity, but you could make a theory that integrates it and helps us understand something we didn’t know before
