Actually though – is there a good reason for `ls` not actually listing every file and directory by default? 🥲

History and sensible defaults. General end users, when LS was made it was the eq. of Finder or Explorer, don't want to see hidden files or dotfiles. Couple that with the ability for your dotfiles to override the behavior it doesn't really make sense.
