I admit I'm probably atypical but unless I signed in with Farcaster I bounce off this 90+% of the time. I usually have no idea which one I used.

Did I use an email, OAuth, or a wallet? Which one? Oh, it’s a magic link so I don’t have a record in my password manager. Time to check my inbox. Whoopsies, now I have five accounts on the same website. Can I merge them? Unmerge them? Change my primary email address? Delete my account and sign up with the same one?

The thought of upgrading bespoke systems that were not built to handle any of this from the start should strike fear in the hearts of backend developers everywhere. Or so I imagine.

tired: storing user id data in a datastore that is unaware of lifecycle events

wired: using a protocol such as fc to handle distributed id

inspired: using a so-called wallet provider to abstract wallets and identities across web2 and web3

this is probably contra to the FC-centric narrative, but I'm seeing it done well with Firefly, Lunchbreak, and I kinda want my frames v2 to live in a space outside of the dominant FC client. I suspect the CBW FC client hybrid will have another version of this enhanced identity concept (with levels of kyc and permissions)

Does “remember me” remember me? Can I pass the captcha the first time? What if I switch to another WiFi? A VPN? Tor? Do I have to keep my email/text app open to copy-paste six digits? Where’d I store those recovery codes, anyway? What is my favorite ice cream flavor? Oops, my session timed out because Cloudflare decided it doesn’t like my Ray ID.
