my thesis: tipping and social engagement tokens would reward creators. the reality: tipping and social engagement tokens are consistently and ruthlessly gamed by noise generating farmers who don’t give a fuck about the creator economy. and their bullshit drowns out the creators.

because there’s no belief in the mission, because they’re just farming a token - instead of giving a shit about content or creators - they dump the token constantly, meaning there is no reason for people to invest in the token or in creators, and meaning creators earn pennies if anything because the price keeps crashing.

anyway, this is me saying I was wrong. not blaming tokens. not blaming projects. blaming the state of crypto right now where every good project is ruthlessly shitfucked and drowned by low quality farmers and earners who are completely at odds with any and all positive crypto ideology.

How about just paying the creators in actual money (usdc, eth) ? Every attempt to 'reward creators', but not actually pay them, results in another hyper inflationary shitcoin being farmed to zero, as you correctly pointed out. I think most people just don't actually want to pay creatives unless it's with free tokens, or part of some 'protocol' which they also benefit from
