This is a really dumb question, but what’s the business model for block explorers?

It seems like block explorers fall into the public good category and a good candidate for funding directly from the protocol

Ad based (pageviews) + selling white label explorer-as-a-service to teams building new chains.

etherscan is printing 20mil at least per anual?
