I grabbed this image the other night and I feel like it summarizes my feelings  as a parent right now. 

My daughter and I were using an app to look at the night sky for science homework. With the aid of technology, were were discovering the location of planets and naming constellations. It felt like we had a new kind of superpower.

Then we started to notice that the satellites. They also show up in the app's view of the night sky and were competing with the stars. In some places, there were entire streams of satellites. 

It made me feel incredibly hopeful and incredibly sad at the same time.

Because of tech, my kids will get to experience things that are just not possible now, and definitely weren't possible when I was a kid. 

At the same time, it will come at a cost. A pristine night sky, which humans have been looking at since the beginning, might just be one of them.
