Back in the day people started calling narrative nonfiction new journalism. The idea, or the newness, was to make information or big ideas more accessible through storytelling and deploy tactics like scene setting and character development. My take is that the next new journalism wave will feature onchain analytics and onchain analytics platforms. For sure there are all kinds of great stories to tell, and big nuggets of information to expose, from the endless streams of data. It's cool to see new analytics platforms come to life and grow. I think the next wave of adoption for these platforms will be when reporters start to use this info to tell stories and give more context to what is happening onchain in realtime. Innovation, access, power, control, fraud, grift, all of elements that make great stories are right there in the data. We just need more people to help bring them to life.
