Moxiesplaining Journal Day 18: Public Service Announcement PSA to the Moxie community: Please do not (implicitly or explicitly) judge, shame, or otherwise pressure Members who don’t change their Fan Token split percentages from the default 20% to give most or all of their earnings to their Fan Token holders. It's good to have that option. But not everyone is in a position to give away as much Moxie as they’d like to. What if they’re cash-strapped because the value they create has been misappropriated by extractive platforms for years? What if they’re tending to their own basic needs so they can free up time and attention for work that benefits the FC network? With Fan Token holdings, earnings are indirect, and they may not want to sell to realize gains. Everyday Rewards earned are available to claim the next day, if needed. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. (Moxiesplaining Journal is a daily window into my observations, learnings, and the view of Moxie from where I sit as a writer + editor).

Is this actually happening? I've seen sell shaming before on this platform but not for moxie yet.

It is happening, yes. Seeing it happen is what inspired this cast. I don't want to quote-cast or name-and-shame; that'll likely backfire and put people on the defensive. But I'm keeping track of examples for my own reference. I wrote this mostly to encourage more thought about what might be happening behind the scenes.

Of course, no need to name names. I'm surprised that it's happening, though. Hey I'm a fan, give us all of your rewards is a whole other level of entitlement.

Right...!?! Can't help but think there's a failure of empathy there. Anyone who understands what it's like to experience precarity in employment, cash flow, etc., would likely understand immediately that it's not cool to shame.

This is what happens when you mix token speculators looking for the best economic return with content creators trying to cultivate a long term fan base, and genuine appreciation, both monetary and otherwise, for their work. Not diametrically opposed but the Venn diagram runs a little thin in the middle.
