"Publishing" is a word that no longer makes sense. When anyone can create and share anything, anywhere, at any time, and to anyone, what does it mean to publish? The role of publishing must take on a new one: curation. Curation is the missing piece of the creator economy. Digital platforms have outsourced curation to algorithms, to everyone's detriment. We need good curators, and we need platforms that reward curatorial work. Only then can we build a creator economy that isn't just predatory. That doesn't just promote the top one percent of creators. Curation is what makes digital platforms worth spending time on.

😍 Tom! I love your writing so, so much. It's OMG-drop-everything-else-to-read-the-new-Tom-Beck-piece levels of brilliant. Web3 is lucky to have you. I'll definitely share, collect, and respond to this as usual, but in keeping with the slowcore ethos I'm going to take some time to ponder and re-read before returning with more substantive comments. 5555 $DEGEN

Speaking of which: I collected some quotes from your piece into a Paragraph draft, and started writing short responses. It quickly snowballed. I'm struck by the congruence between the vision you described in your piece and what I've been reading about the Moxie Protocol. We'll see where this takes me.

I'd love to read your responses (when you're ready to share of course). I don't know much about the Moxie Protocol, but I'm excited to learn more!

I only know what I've read in their docs and what the team has shared here on FC, but that's been enough to inspire me to write about it. You wrote about how the value must flow to all 4 roles you identified if we want vibrant creative scenes, and I agree. Assuming I understand what I've read correctly, it will soon be possible to do that in customizable and deeply positive-sum ways with Moxie. OK, I'll get back to my draft of... whatever it is. Moxie-splaining?😃 BTW, looks like I'll only have a degen allowance for two more days. (Staking will be required to qualify for an allowance in season 6, and I won't be doing that). So my remaining allos will all be used to retro-tip my fellow writers. 3333 $DEGEN

That sounds cool, I'm excited to learn more about Moxie in the coming weeks! Too bad about degen season 6. I was finally approaching enough for a tipping allocation, but if staking is required, I won't be doing that either.

I'm hoping that Moxie will take up some of the "slack" from the season 6 degen changes, and give us better options for value flow to all the roles. We'll see. In the meantime, I'm still pretty happy with the way things work for $enjoy tipping. I wrote elsewhere that I'll miss rewarding people with degen directly, but at the same time it'll be a relief to have the time and attention freed up. It's a fair bit of work to tip responsibly every day, and it's challenging to even *track* all the frequent changes, let alone understand them well enough to do a good job. Starting tomorrow, I can redirect all that valuable attention back to my writing. Seems fitting that my last 1600 $DEGEN allo should go to you. Onward!
