I get asked a lot of what living in Hawaii is like. As a whole its a magical and unique place. Grateful to have lived and grown up here, but it has challenges, a lot of them. Especially for the Hawaiian people (residents don't ever call themselves Hawaiian btw, even if you've been here for generations, only descendents are Hawaiian). John Oliver really nails a lot of the most pressing current and historic issues in the most entertaining and hilarious way. So good. 🤙 😁

Right...?!? So much Farcaster magic in one thread. 

It helps that there's already a lot of common ground between island folks and former residents of Hawai'i, but even so, that was really unexpected and delightful.

I watched the video. I've long been aware of many of the issues mentioned, but I learned new things from it too. Heartbreaking, maddening situations for native Hawaiians.

Yeah, its exactly why I love FC as much as I do. 

When living on the mainland its crazy to ask anyone that was raised in New York or California "Oh, do you know so and so?" when you find someone else that is from that State, but in Hawaii you can generally find people or at the very least common life experiences because of the size and specific culture of the region. Part of living on a rock floating in the middle of the Pacific. 😁 

John Oliver definitely hit hard with this one. Funny and heartbreaking to be sure.
