The number 1 UX grievance with MM is likely the prompt for network change. Especially as dapps insist on this immediately (on read), rather than on tx (on write).

Is there a reason MM is set up that way, beyond legacy?

i.e. with "connect wallet" there is a privacy purpose. Is this similar here?

This has been one of our top priorities to address for like 2 years. It's required a huge refactor. That switcher was a band aid over making the user manually switch. We've started rolling out the first phase of the improvement now, where dapps retain their network. More soon:

Soon dapps will not only remember their network and be able to switch without prompt, they'll be able to connect to different networks (on different tabs). And then via CAIP-25, they'll be able to *request* multiple networks. And the UI is going multichain-first, allowing viewing assets across chains & filtering them.

Very cool. Sounds like this will not only catch up with but leapfrog the current landscape. Can't wait to see it!
