It's hard for people who are not at least one inch deep into the Farcaster protocol to even tell the difference between Warpcast and Farcaster. Warpcast isn't the only client, it's just the first one. Anyone is open to build another client™ make smoother UX, richer DX and win Warpcast. In a non-decentralized environment you wouldn't be able to do it.

Making changes to social graph is a risky and very complex change to be done – forking should be much more endorsed to let people not just iterate on the app client looks/ideas – but also on the protocol level. I'd say it's the Step 2 for App Clients – you firstly iterate by building a "private" subset of a social graph, and only when you feel like the change is really positive and that it finds it use, you contribute to "L1". A good example of this is /uno's stories.

This all sounds ok, but then what is the actual point of building it. ontop of FC?

Getting the bootstrapped social graph. Not having the burden for existing users to set up a new account, re-follow everyone they followed previously. Having lots of data to build a feed. Ultimately building in top of FC fixes the chicken-egg problem for you, and more importantly you contribute to solving it further.

I like this, thanks for changing my mind. But that sounds sufficiently decentralized? idk

Because no user understands there's differences between farcaster an warpcast, despise the best intentionsof the team on -doing so- If I just reflect on my usage, 90% of my time spent here is on DC's, which are warpcast exclusive, not decentralized, and not encrypted. honestly im just here for the people.

Me too bleu! 90% of my time I am scrolling the feed and really not active in group chats or DCs in general. Imagine an app client that puts most of the efforts to DCs - having a main focus to reach tg-like UX (i feel like it’s really good), they fork hubs, make them decentralized and encrypted. It is possible! They can then contribute back in a form of FIP and suggest supporting this on L1 level. That’s what I think of sufficient decentralization.

OK yeah, that works, i guess we're just -so early- at network size that's hard to envision that happening. I also think a telegram-open-source-safe-DC's product could earn quite the market share, but maybe im too high on my own supply. It just feels we need to remove all the crypto from the apps for normies to just use it.

yep, we're definitely really early™, I'd love to see messenger-only app built on top of social graph of FC with decentralized & encrypted DCs!
