Last week I attended the @worldcoin Build Demo Day rehersal. Build is an accelerator program for World mini app builders.

There’s ONLY 141 miniapps serving MILLIONS of DAUs in the World App

There were 12 teams presenting their pitches, ranging from clicker games, step tracker apps, to DeFi yield apps and offramps.

The program was organized by Worldcoin, Blockchain Capital, Variant, FWB, Bain Capital Crypto and Alchemy

General Takeaways:

1/ @worldcoin app is a distribution machine. These builders are getting access to a lot of users, that ALREADY have wallets. Even though most of them are ‘normies’, it’s a good way to find an initial set of users.

2/ A lot of the founders showed that with 0 marketing, just by pushing their apps on World, they were able to achieve thousands of users within HOURS.

3/ We always like to talk about asymmetries, right now, World is an asymmetric distribution engine. I would encourage any founder to ship a mini app just to get exposure to these users.

4/ The ecosystem is not developed and simple primitives like order routing, aggregators, and others are yet to be built in the ecosystem. HUGE opportunity here.

I don’t want to spoil the upcoming demo day in May, but some of my favorites were:

Agro Earn: Built by Natalia and Andres. It’s a simple onchain stablecoin yield product. They had to build out a Solana bridge. There’s already 4k users using their yield product.

Onepay: Taking over payment PoS's. Merchants show their QR code and users pay with their World App balance. Like wechat pay.

ITM (Item): Building $ASADO, a tap to earn miniapp to bootstrap world and brandbuidling spaces on World. They want artists to create onchain spaces for their fans.

World is the fastest growing chain in terms of new user adoption (22M users?!), and it’s mostly driven by their GTM engine by giving users a ~20usd airdrop for their eye verification on an Orb
