This thread is pretty amazing. What symptoms should one look for to diagnose whether you have ADHD or not?

I stumbled onto the /r/adhd subreddit and so many stories there described me exactly. I didn't really believe it, but was diagnosed by a psychiatrist afterwards.

For me, it was things like: * being very calm in chaos / emergencies, and having really hard time simple things (paying bills, sending an email) if there's no external motivators. * deep obsession w/ certain tasks and have a hard to move my attention off something I'm engrossed in. this is a superpower for a programmer or founder, but sucks for a lot of jobs (and being a parent). * smaller "working memory" and need a lot of external systems to manage myself (todo list, calendar, religious note taker, ...). also, I have to always put my phone and keys in the exactly same place or will never find them.
