Have been slowly re-watching The Soprano's. 

1. From a production value / aesthetic, holds up incredibly well relative to other "prestige" TV

2. Original viewing for me was 20 years ago. Hits way different with kids, inching closer to "mid-life".

3. Show is prescient in capturing the decline of Pax Americana civic religion / End of History / clash of tradition with modernity / "Bowling Alone" that started to accelerate at the turn of the century.

4. Gandolfini is top 10 all-time for a character portrayal.

i havent gotten myself to watch sopranos or the wire. tried a few times starting them in the last few years. for some reason i cannot keep going. and i do love drama - succession, industry, breaking bad, ozark, narcos etc.

why cannot i get into them? has the zeitgeist moment passed?
