Hypothetically, say an iOS app uses hypersub subscriptions. Can apple not impose the same restrictions on that app to support in app subscriptions or to not talk about where to subscribe?

sfaik apple could 100% impose the same restrictions. i was commenting on the differences between hypersub and patreon: because the fee is non-upgradeable we *cant* change it once the subscription contract has been deployed this is probably good and bad. good: we can't rug creators, even if we wanted to. bad: we can't comply with apple requirements, even if we wanted to. still unclear as to what the longterm implications of this are
