Well, I’d say it’s pretty lively and safe everywhere! Saldanha and Arroios are really nice non-touristy areas, mostly flat too (so you can bike). Principe Real is amazing but imo super overpriced now (the entire city is to be honest). I think it really depends on what kind of lifestyle you like!
