Can someone give me high level overview of how frames work and if they can support gen art? 

Asking for....reasons.

Created a frame with frames.js with some *very* bad genart. 

The concept of Frames gives a lot of creative freedom. I think Farcaster has the potential to become the place to discover and interact with generative art.

At the end of the day a frame is just loading a URL that has specific meta tags set. 

So as long web your web app can generate an image you need and then return a valid HTML string with the meta tags pointing to that image, then absolutely.
