Seeing lots of people on Twitter dunk on this new law in Australia preventing children under 16 from using social media. What do you think?

As an Australian I can tell you absolutely no one wants this, it's just another case of mainstream media controlling the group think once again. It won't stick.

I’m Australian If I had my time as a teenager again I would have much preferred no social media compared to having social media Fucking everyone around me was completely addicted, it’s dystopic Social media \= online messaging + communication Although I have to agree it will be difficult to enforce. But fuck it tbh

It's impossible to enforce without global compliance and we all know they aren't going to use the most secure tech available. You're fooling yourself if you think it's good. Ideally it is but in practice it'll be a mess Besides the fact it's ignoring the core issues like the fact kids don't have the same level of community. This isn't just an issue for teens tho What of the kids that have nothing but social media to be themselves?
