The Dutch army is reintroducing a tank unit to meet NATO obligations. This decision comes after the Netherlands disbanded its tank battalion in 2011 due to budget cuts. The new unit will strengthen NATO's eastern flank.

We are nearing the summit of the long cycle (≈ 3x real estate cycle) in 2027 (approximately), and that are periods with a lot of geopolitical conflicts like in the period around 1971 and 1920. and today:

Maybe interesting for some of you, because this man predicted WW3 before all tentions where out there, and got his PhD with it:

And don't focus on the exact date 2020, because there is a margin of error.

I don't think they've become obsolete. Even in the Russian-Ukrainian war, tanks are being used.

In the former Eastern Bloc, people look at Russia differently than even Western Europe. In countries that were part of the USSR, Russia is seen as an occupier, of which they still see a threat. So, in that matter, it's not surprising that Poland invest more than The Netherlands. Besides that in The Netherlands have a history of a lack of army investment (we had 1 tank when Germany invaded the Netherlands in 1940).

The urge for not stepping back (enough) or adding tension with could lead to a war is imo partly an economical one (raw materials, land), and based on Piepers too much geopolitical friction.

Tanks are obsolete now. The recent wars have confirmed they don't stand a chance against drones worth a few thousand dollars. But NATO is just provoking the bear for a war. I don't understand the elites urge for it
