p.s. i was chatting about something with a teammate today and used this phrase which I enjoyed: "we need to stop chasing other people's tails and start being the motherfucking dog."

what i meant to illustrate with that analogy was that i think it's really easy to get lost and distracted trying to react to other people/products/competitors. i find this mode more often than not leads to bad outcomes - bad products, bad go to markets, incremental progress.

what's much harder is figuring out who *we* want to be, then embodying that to its fullest extent. this can be really scary, because it often means looking out 1-2 years and envisioning a future that doesn't yet exist, then charting the path to get there. and often times that path requires a lot of hard work and lead bullets. but it gives us a shot at doing a 10x.

and throughput my career, i've found that even if you predict wrong, the process of looking out, making a bet, and moving with conviction ends up helping you figure out the right way eventually.
