Bragi is a god-skald in Germanic-Scandinavian mythology, famous for his wisdom and eloquence, husband of the goddess Idun. As a rule, he was depicted as old and with a long beard - a symbol of wisdom and rich experience, from the stock of which poets should draw their thoughts and images. Bragi's name is related to the myth of the Honey of Poetry known from the Younger Edda. According to the legend, Odin stole the magic drink from Guttung, and upon reaching Asgard, poured it into golden vessels, which he then gave to his son Bragi. It is believed that since then, true talent has been bestowed only upon the chosen few. He belongs to the Asses, and according to one song, of later origin, he, together with Heimdall and Loki, went to the kingdom of Hel when he learned of Baldr's death by signs, and stayed there with Idun for three years. In his memory a circular cup was passed around the guests at feasts, and solemn vows were pronounced over it.
