made some plots in rust because I'm trying to have a nice day backend for frame generation they're ugly as hell try to find a better rust graphing library that makes nicer plots I get threads with comments about how you should just roll your own lmao rust, why am I not surprised

i wouldn't be surprised if there's a way to do so, but tbh i set myself a goal of keeping the entire website, frontend and backend, using rust only, with the only caveat obviously that i still have html and css for the pages and styling partly this is as an exercise, but i also really disliked js when i used it

also i have a lot of experience with R because it still has a lot of the best libraries for bio graphing and analysis and i wish i fucking didn't zero desire to touch R on a personal project https://warpcast.com/cryptocellaris/0xc4d77d3e

Strong opinion π Iβve come to like it but only because I used it throughout my PhD and got used to its quirks and idiosyncrasies. data.table in particular helped me tremendously for biggish data

yeah I know enough to use it fine but having shipped a tool to make it simpler for biologists to do functional protein prediction in a specific niche that was an unholy abomination of python, R, and cli tools wrapped together i wish the entire ecosystem a pleasant dumpster fire as it's extremely difficult to package

as soon as you try integrating with other languages and putting it into a CI/CD pipeline it's absurd hell, easily the worst lang I've touched not that most bio software even has a test suite π«

anyway I don't want to build anything for personal projects in languages that are broken at the foundation since I'm just contributing to the problem unfortunately that means avoiding popular languages with pleasant frameworks to build quickly
