I want to try something new with the pinned cast in /success: encouraging more long form discussion. Read the question below and answer thoughtfully. Letā€™s spark some real conversations here! There has been a lot of FUD recently about past failure and what that means for future success. With this in mindā€”what is the most important failure youā€™ve experienced in life and how did it shape the person you are today? For me, it was losing everything to drug addiction and the criminal justice system. My career, my health, my youth. But through that struggle, I learned to be a much stronger personā€”much more capable to take on the challenges of life. I wouldnā€™t change anything as all of it helped shape the person I am today. What about you?

Iā€™m a Gen Xā€™er and have had many important failures. One of my earliest was when I was 12 yrs old. I was running blindly through the forest in the backyard of my friendā€™s house with the kind of abandon that only a kid can have and I ran face-first into rusty barbed wire. It cut an impressive gash across my cheek and I was literally 1/4ā€ away from losing one of my eyes. It was a formative experience. Ever since, I donā€™t run into unknown situations without doing some research first. I can still be spontaneous, but itā€™s made me less reckless and more reflective before making rash decisions.
