I want to try something new with the pinned cast in /success: encouraging more long form discussion. Read the question below and answer thoughtfully. Let’s spark some real conversations here! There has been a lot of FUD recently about past failure and what that means for future success. With this in mind—what is the most important failure you’ve experienced in life and how did it shape the person you are today? For me, it was losing everything to drug addiction and the criminal justice system. My career, my health, my youth. But through that struggle, I learned to be a much stronger person—much more capable to take on the challenges of life. I wouldn’t change anything as all of it helped shape the person I am today. What about you?

there’s so many moments in my life that I can point to and say that this moment shaped me, but I’ll start with this one. I moved to Hollywood with my band in an effort to get a record deal and have some fun. we made some good music but the band imploded before that happened. At this crossroads everyone went their own way. I felt that my story wasn’t over yet, so I decided to stay in ca to see where life took me. I got a job at a computer reseller shortly after this. a few years later I got a job offer in another state and the person who took me back to my interview became my future wife…

In my opinion past failure or unfortune events can shape you to be much stronger and give you the motivation to show everyone and especially yourself what you are capable of. My approach to life is a strong internal conviction that things will always work out well for me - I never doubt for one second and it has been working out more than fine so far.

I’m a Gen X’er and have had many important failures. One of my earliest was when I was 12 yrs old. I was running blindly through the forest in the backyard of my friend’s house with the kind of abandon that only a kid can have and I ran face-first into rusty barbed wire. It cut an impressive gash across my cheek and I was literally 1/4” away from losing one of my eyes. It was a formative experience. Ever since, I don’t run into unknown situations without doing some research first. I can still be spontaneous, but it’s made me less reckless and more reflective before making rash decisions.

I don't know if I should call it failure or regret, but the fact that we tried so hard to save a bankrupt business (unknowingly) that we took over without my initiative and lost everything.sometimes it is necessary to accept defeat and withdraw.this way we could have survived with less damage.this was my life lesson😔

After my dad passed away my mom was concerned she couldn’t pay for their mortgage. I was in college at the time and I decided to research the heck out of how to make money online to help her out. Long story short, I joined an mlm, lost a shit ton of money, almost got booted from my apartment, and almost failed a hiking/jogging class I spent countless 48 hour binges with no sleep This taught me how hard it is to actually get something of substance going in business and there’s more to it than just putting yourself out there I’ve made some decent money with side hustles since then but they were all short lived because I was working full time and didn’t have the time to dedicate to them

I am proud to be a recovering addict. I'll share the beginnings of my story.. Played football in high-school, 'merican. In my JV season 15yo, I dislocated my shoulder 7 times and the first thing they did was throw vicodin at my situation. Unfortunately my shoulder was too far gone and I was forced to sit the rest of the season out with the possibility of never being able to play again. This was at the very same time I shifted my lifestyle and moved to my Moms' home - who has the philosophy "as long as it's under my roof where u can be safe...feel free." I try not to blame anyone but myself, but this lifestyle switch was def the beginning of my long road to eventually bootin' dogfood.. iykyk So with the pain of football injuries, and a "safe zone" to party away the rest of my teens and into my mid-twenties...ya boy experimented wif everything under the Sun. Litterally. This was the beginning of my biggest failure, I knew better than to do drugs, I chose to not listen to instinct.

Mine is very similar to yours, it’s not something I like to talk about but totally agree I wouldn’t be where I am today without that experience. Crazy what we can get through.

In fact, I can't boast of any great mega story to get you all to give me a standing ovation! One very important survival happened to me during childbirth. I was born 2.5 months premature. I was nursed in intensive care and I pulled through and now live without any abnormalities, I am a normal person. Later I will share stories from my life, but for my stories to exist, it was those doctors, thanks to them, who saved my life at birth.

I think my whole life is a failure ATM because I'm a LAW graduate and I have my Bar Association License and am eligible for High Court Bar Association but still I don't want to be a Lawyer instead I want to be a millionaire but without doing anything illegal or unethical like other lawyers that's why I choose the field of gaming about a couple of years ago but someone alleged me with a false fabricated case and I got jailed although it was just for a week and I settled with them after giving them my all of the savings what ever I had saved in last 2 years and I become totally broke after that. At the moment I'm under debt of about 15k usdt and my only source of income is Farcaster and FC alone is my hope of success. I joined WC about 6 months ago and I'm learning more and more about Web3. I became a fine artist by joining /superrare community and learning about frames and base chain more to build something useful and be a Dev to contribute in FC network and because what I really wanna be.

Dude I love this. My life lesson was realizing my not caring attitude was not going to get me anywhere. I skated thru high school, did just enough to graduate. Homework, what was that? I made my teachers mad cause I would pass tests without doing an assignment (granted some cheating took place). Not getting accepted to any of the colleges I wanted to go to was the first jab. However, I ended up in community college and realized I didn't even want to be a computer science major. Took a bunch of entry classes and HR resonated with me, and that was my turning point. I still didn't care about gen ed, but aced every other class I did care about. Ended up with a great starting opportunity after 8 months of applying for jobs and not getting it. 10 years later, I'm glad I made the change.

I've faced failure multiple times man, but as i learned "Everything works out in the end" Irl, i was subjected to the life of seeing the people i was once with hit big time, it's not like i was lazy or anything, they just didn't click for me, i would always put in more effort and end up on the edge, during my driving days, I literally came out of the truck one time seeing my friend in his own vehicle looking at me like i had lost in life In crypto, i hit some money and i lost it all to the market with zero gains, this has happened to me twice now, what's crazy is how the people around you are always winning and you're the one continuously losing When i started reading books and growing myself more, things turned around quite good for me One thing i can say is, fast money making schemes shouldn't be our aim, we shouldn't envy people in that lifestyle and seeing ourselves as inferior, simply groom yourself to be the best you can be 🫡

late to this thread @maretus Lots of them to list tbh. So heres one. I had a thriving Historical Restoration business in NYC, jobs lined up for the next 2 years… then 9-11 went down. Watched the second plane hit from the roof of my workshop. After that suffered from severe ptsd and couldn’t hold my business or my sanity together tbh. Had to leave my dreams behind and rebuild upstate. It took about a year to get the voices out of my head calling myself a failure. Because I realized trying and not succeeding is not failure at all, it’s how we get to where we want to be.

Love this.. My first thought reading this was “I fail every damn day in one & often many more ways 🙃”.. but I’d say the one major failure that was probably the most impactful in my life & set the stage for major movements forward & into an entirely new bunch of lives, was divorcing my ex husband at 21 years old. There was a moment when I just knew it was not the life I was meant for. So I left, moved to NY, went on to get into all sorts of fun things that brought me to where I am in life 😊😊😊
