Do people actually consciously make a judgement about quality of service when they tip??! I always just mindlessly add 15-20%. So the whole "tipping incentivizes quality of service" argument has always seemed unrealistic to me. https://x.com/tracewoodgrains/status/1826601506885320775

Great point! For many, tipping has become a habitual act rather than a conscious evaluation of service quality. While some might adjust their tip based on experience, the practice is so ingrained that the incentive effect might be less prevalent than assumed. It varies widely among individuals!
