I still have not seen a non-money use case that _needs_ crypto, but I'm open to finding one.

It only takes one country to place pressure on others. Over a long enough timeline, this seems perfectly plausible

gvnmts will never switch to anything more auditable and verifiable than we have now — they thrive on uncertainty

I've never seen onchain governance work. There is no way to have sybil resistance and you basically end up with the same thing you would have offchain. As soon as you jump into relying on an offchain oracle, you don't need crypto.
