Aside from the numbers, the tokens are completely fungible. As a result, I feel no sense of urgency to ape in. I can get the same thing tomorrow if I choose.

That could be a reasonable incentive. If I was headed to some events, that would encourage me to get a membership.

maybe @purple should start doing dinners or activities that are free for members at every conf so people feel some urgency to join (and have more fun)
