NY finance guy falls in love with Russian oligarch's daughter (he doesn't know who she is at first) and gets caught up in the mess -- changing identities and running for his life. Book jumps right in, no waiting 100 pages for it to take flight.

The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch
4.5/5
This is described as 'Inception meets True Detective,' and I'd only add a touch of Interstellar to that. It's a complete mind-warp that had me trying to keep up the whole time. There are moments of extreme violence, but they will leave you guessing until the end.

This is described as 'Inception meets True Detective,' and I'd only add a touch of Interstellar to that. It's a complete mind-warp that had me trying to keep up the whole time. There are moments of extreme violence, but they will leave you guessing until the end.

A book that made me want to write. Just incredible. It's a WWII art heist, sure, but with incredible amounts of depth. A coming of age thread woven through real events, and some of the most standout writing I've come across in a long time.
