It's all impressive, but you still have to make a product that people want to use. Most independent sources say X has lost ~10% of its DAU QoQ. D1, D7, D30 retention all down. If engineering efficiency is their north star, then kudos; but business metrics are suffering.

I'm a touch skeptical of the "bot sweep" explanation for declining DAUs. Effect is about the same on iOS as Android even though bots tend to be operated from Android / web clients + iPhone install base went from 16% > 14%. I also feel like they'd be out there saying this explicitly if it were a major contributor.

Changes to the API alone cut bots drastically and I have seen fewer crypto scam bots on my own comments and replies 

The DAU of “dedicated” users hasn’t changed much which is telling

they say they are clamping down at bots, but how do we really know? They are less transparent than ever. 

And what does it say if there are less bots and more hate speech?
