The majority of the world’s perceived problems today boil down to one thing: Tech progress has moved faster in the past 40 years than our collective society can adapt. PC, internet, mobile, crypto/AI… That’s like 4 industrial revolutions in 40 years.

Most Casters are optimists, as am I, so we know that these are great things. Wikipedia, Google Maps, Zoom, Uber, Amazon…have all massively improved quality of life. But if you’re not comfortable with change or are stuck in an older way of thinking, it’s super scary.

You don’t know what’s true anymore because there are so many conflicting sources of info. You just moved from newspapers to digital but can’t trust that anymore bc of deep fakes. You learned computer skills for a better job and now AI is going to take that job too.

I have a lot of empathy for these folks. They are our parents & grandparents, neighbors, congressman, and leaders. That said, tech progress is the most powerful positive force we’ve witnessed. So to suppress that for slightly more comfort seems both silly & impossible. Society might need to get better at adapting.
