What if every song on @cooprecs had a market cap? Does that sound exciting or what's your general reaction to that?

Like a bonding curve or something like that? Could be good to build some hype, but it’s not always the best way of bringing value too imho💆🏻‍♂️

Basically been following the new Zora model pretty closely. Essentially gives every drop a market - whether its perceived as that or not. One big thing that's been missing from our model is there's no way for collectors to make money currently (they're all open editions) I'm really bullish on referral rewards but I do think for this to actually click there needs to be an element of being able to 100x a song. Lots to be unpacked here but alongside the number of mints we would basically be displaying the market cap the same way you would be scouting tokens on Dexscreener. I know they're not 1:1 but feels like the world we're headed to and trying to figure out our positioning in that race

but it seems like you're thinking there needs to be a way for collectors to really profit, maybe by 100x-ing a song. How do you see that working, and do you think it would solve the issue with the open editions?

I really struggle because we haven't seen it play out thus far. 99% of songs are inheriently somewhat finite in the sense that energy and attention leaves after the first 1-2 weeks of release. If you look at a chart of Spotify streams across most songs they kind of bottom out at a relatively fixed rate of streams over 30d time periods. What the ideal model should solve for is those viral songs that end up going ballistic and reaching billions of people. I think the question here is how do you build a system that is equitable and removes pressure from the long-tail while allowing the breakout songs to be the ones that end up returning the portfolio for the early collectors. In this world yes it would solve the issue with open editions - though as @push- highlighted it would likely attract more speculators than collectors (which I think has pros and cons)

the challenge is finding a model that accounts for the natural decline in attention after a song’s release while still rewarding early collectors when a song goes viral. You want to create a system that’s fair and doesn't rely on sustained interest in every song, but rather lets the big hits carry the portfolio. Do you think there's a way to balance attracting both collectors and speculators without compromising the integrity of the platform?

Balancing the desire to reward early collectors with the risk of attracting more speculators is a tough one, especially when most songs see a drop in attention after the initial release period.
