Feel like people commonly oversell crypto. We’re selling digital objects. Using modern payment rails. It’s not that deep.

How do DAOs fit into this? Or dark forest? Or Curta? I think it’s very deep but that’s not a good way to sell people on it. The model you said is better for convincing people to try

I feel people tend to sell what they believe in. And crypto’s design principles could potentially enable deep societal changes. Although unlikely, people try to make dreams come true.

I feel like this understates what crypto is and the financial aspects it can radicalize. Feel like people commonly undersell currencies. We’re selling IOUs. Using outdated and expensive payment rails. It’s leveraged to the tits.

I think it really depends if you believe crypto is a fundamentally new technology. If you do, crypto can be viewed as a new medium, so it does go deeper than just enabling transactions, as it permits a different form of ownership and exchange (in this case, of digital objects), which is deeper than just payments.

A good starting point, but it misses the Self Custody and Peer-to-Peer aspect which is very important. Last cycle a bunch of ppl pushed me to use FTX (fits your description), but I never touched it because it was a traditional black-box bank, not a decentralized network. Must dive a little deeper to see the diff.

I think it’s because it’s just not “digital objects and modern payment rails” that we sell, it’s a whole new system much like how Karl Marx created a new system which which challenged the concept of how the society works since its inception. Maybe wrong tho.

I think it’s because web2 media has conditioned people to assume digital assets are free to rcs, so introducing scarcity breaks their brains a bit

It's at the 'frontier' stage where most people don't see the potential (which is fair enough until we build the utility on top). See also — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs-YpQj88ew&t=189s; — iBeer app when iOS launched
