The difference between Farcaster and FriendTech is that speculation is not the focus.

The network is sufficiently compelling first and speculative opportunities emerge as a result.

+1 - would go further to say that there is power in giving them common ground even without the creator actually being present in that space.

I think people want to connect over their love for a creator more than talking directly to the creator.

the FT hidden chat room never made any sense to me. The secret sauce is when fans can connect with each other and find other common ground, not blindly message the creator.

I conceptually do agree they both fall under the "SocialFi" narrative (not a fan of that name btw).

I think we continue to see FT playbook pan out (Tomo, Focus, etc) alongside FC type playbook.

More bullish on opportunities that come out of FC (Frames) and fully agreed they are fundamentally different.

I’ve seen a lot of people on Twitter talk about FC being the new FT and I just have to laugh

Largely agreed - different tradeoffs for sure.

FT made 100x more in fees than FC.

FC feels like it has more organic foundation which results in better social.

Fwiw I'm still bullish FT V2 and think there will be a vibrant community there headed into this next cycle.

friendtech got the incentives wrong imo. FT incentivizes whales and liquidity more than it does social activity, contributions or merit. i don't think the average person is excited to participate (or farm rewards) on FT if they can't earn points without throwing a ton of money around

I will never understand why everything needs to be „fi“. That’s the mistake of FT and the thing farcaster gets right.

The right order ✊ 

As someone relatively new to Farcaster all I can say is it gives me fomo for all the right reasons… I’m drawn back multiple times a day to pull/refresh and see what’s new.

Couldn’t friendtech now be built on top of farcaster?
