I think one of the growing pains crypto is going through is the need to actually be legit. In the past it was ok to only focus on the future and what was possible. It let people live in this kind of fantasy world where real stats and proximity to culture didn’t matter. Now projects have to stand behind what they’ve shipped and make that compelling to net new people. The struggle is that you can’t fake it anymore and people can see right through when something is off or half baked. Very few projects that can confidently stand out in the absence of a bull market and get real people to think what they’re doing is cool.

Crypto needs to get back to being actually decentralized to be interesting again. All we get now are high polish "on boarding the next billion" VC pandering vanilla bullshit web3 projects that basically just custody your funds with a multi-sig wallet or add a crypto wallet to your web2 to login like workcast does. People can smell the bullshit. It's not exciting. It's not censorship resistant. It's not decentralized. It's getting old. Be courageous! Build something that will never stop even if you die. That would be exciting.

I couldn’t agree more Like you said it's no longer possible to fake it anymore that's why it's so important for projects to focus on building something real, something that solves a real problem or meets an actual need cause that’s what people want (at least me) But do you think they might be factors holding them back?

Exactly! Crypto's growing up, and the hype alone doesn't cut it anymore. People want to see real results, not just big promises. You can’t fake it now if a project’s halfbaked, everyone knows. The ones that will survive are those that can show they’re legit, even without a bull market backing them

What exactly does “like the need to actually be legit” mean tho Founders trying to prove that they mean to do a particular thing(s) instead of just starting and going forward with the “We’ll see how it goes mentality?” Or needing to know people are actually real.
