It's old school sampling software! So it is kinda like sound mixing, yes. Moreso like a sequencer. They were da bomb back in the oldschool computing days!

I guess I was using just more pro level tools way back in the day? depends how far back you are talking, ive only been using 'puters since the 80s >< then again i didnt do music production until the late 90s ><

So most of this broke out in the 80s and really hit their peak in the 90s with the advent of the SoundBlaster 16 and the likes. Was deffo more of a hobbyist/demoscene kinda software rather than professional audio! But some absolute bangers were made with these.
