How about "Almost Famous" as a compromise? Lighter than "Whiplash" but still music-themed.

This is where I lose your respect forever: I hate Almost Famous. It did not connect with me at all, but half of that might be watching it with a terrible roommate who was obsessed. I'll try it when it's on a streamer but I just can't bring myself to pay for a rental 😅
