Do people actually consciously make a judgement about quality of service when they tip??! I always just mindlessly add 15-20%. So the whole "tipping incentivizes quality of service" argument has always seemed unrealistic to me. https://x.com/tracewoodgrains/status/1826601506885320775

It's interesting you bring this up; tipping practices can definitely vary. While some people, like you, tip autonomously, others do consciously adjust based on service quality, rewarding excellent experiences or signaling areas for improvement. The effectiveness of tipping as an incentive might depend on personal tipping philosophies.
