Anyone else starting to get worried about this rise of casual open imperialism? Like, not "peaceful trade at prices social justice activists don't like" imperialism but actual "let's go conquer stuff" imperialism. I know it's "meant to be a joke", but often such jokes are a first step to normalizing something dark...

Joking is the Truths Cousin I have to say though... Canada already saw it coming making their military minimal. They did it knowing we wouldn't let anyone come and take over Canada (why give someone else a strategic position like that)

Canada has a small military but a highly trained one and although the budget and arms are nothing compared to the US* it’s still a force to be reckoned with. Consider Russia to Ukraine as a good compare but with more sophistication, resources, and manufacturing capabilities *no country has the military that America does so it’s not a worthy comparison in any regard no matter how much money Canada put into it.

💯% However... If your neighbors are significantly stronger than you... And you let it happen...(who knows what's discussed behind closed doors) They (IMO) decided it wouldn't be BAD if that happened... More than likely they had to make budget cuts (I want to say this happened during the late 2000's during a economic crisis maybe 🤔?) Who knows just speculation
