It seems like there would be a few features we can build to help:

- communities (already exists! Readers can self-segment themselves based on the topics they want to receive)
- writer-configurable community defaults for new subscribers? Right now new subs subscribe to all communities by default

- unlisted posts: they wouldn't show up on your home feed, alongside your more published posts, but you can still send them out via newsletter (and readers can still browse by the community tag)

Those are what come to mind right now

I'll give this one more thought. I'm not sure I'd use a newsletter format for microblogging.

Some elements of my ideal web3 publishing home are less about new features and more about affordances for building social + cultural context. 

I'll probably need to write more about this eventually to get clarity on it. :)
