Hard thing about being a CEO seems to be, at any given point you need to implicitly be convincing your employees that the best thing they can be doing for their career right now is working for/with you. How do you do that, especially through rough times?

A few ideas: - ensure they’re always growing (working on challenging stuff they enjoy, even during bad times) - clearly articulating strategy and vision - equity to incentivize working toward the strategy and vision - team building events (eg offsite) to ensure good culture

I think number 2 is the hardest IME. Founders might intrinsically “get” the strategy and vision so they don’t think to communicate it explicitly and repeatedly to their own team
