I love this, but there’s no way some of these people aren’t sprinting into their homes saying “some crazy bald man wanted to chain me up out there.”

I’ll take the other side. I hate this. This isn’t a fucking joke, people hate crypto and crypto people can’t seem to get past that because they keep believing consumers want this, they don’t. Why give someone $50 in eth, because we believe they want to spend with it, save it, or gamble it? The message is unclear. Why does gambling win? Because of dopamine, not utility, so then this shit is just used as evidence that we aren’t serious.

Totally fair. My “I love this” is more oriented towards Jesse going out there and doing things physically. I think it’s the big differentiator for Farcaster - real humans who get together and do real things. It’s made me trust crypto much more than I would if I only experienced community via e.g. crypto Twitter. But “hey kids, ya want some money to gamble with?” is indeed not helping the cause.

That is a very valid point and I have no arguments there, it’s the thing that’s kept me here. Real life is a much better place than social and social is definitely better as a support mechanism for IRL
