Doge had just launched and the concept of a memecoin was picking up on bitcoin talk forum

The Coinye West team had to deploy their own chain, with their own mining software.

4/ In the end, Kanye and his lawyers won and forced the chain to essentially go defunct.

The tech and national media covered the story with publications from nbc, the verge, coindesk, wired and many more.

5/ Coinye West was almost the 2nd memecoin in existence, just behind Doge. If it wasn't shut down by lawyers, it'd likely be a multi-billion dollar coin today.
