A super rare coincidence while traveling on Kauai... I actually spotted a Hawaiian monk seal who recently hauled out on a beach, and when I identified him, I realized that it was RK58, the baby Hawaiian monk seal that I featured in my edition, The Rescue. Yeah, after more than a decade as a volunteer, these are the moments I value the most… seeing a seal I saw as a baby thriving on their own. He was rescued as a baby, and then again after a dog attack, but is a great success story for the groups working to conserve these amazing animals! 🤙🏼💙🦭
