A colleague of mine likes to say: "Mountains and rivers change; a person’s nature does not." Marshall Goldsmith, an expert in leadership and behavior change, puts it another way: "Can people change? Yes. Will they? I don’t know." The more we recognize that behaviors are a direct reflection of what truly matters, the better we can understand—and influence—real change.
